Image, Memory & Archive
A house I lived in temporarily whilst completing my degree in Limerick had recently been bought by a man from Lahinch. The woman who occupied the house had passed away, leaving most of her belongings as they were; a big part of her life collected in one space. It was a house with a strong sense of her presence; the decorations, the smells, the sounds.
This project wish to invite the viewer into a memory archive from a home left behind very sudden. It is an investigation of a stranger's life and a reflection on impermanence and the transience of life. Moving into a house like this and letting two lives merge, was both intimate and voyeuristic - in a sense intrusive.
